On the 1st of June, there was an AGRICHEMWHEY Public Consultation night on the proposed demonstration biorefinery in Lisheen. Bill Morrissey, Programme Manager at Glanbia Ireland, gave an informative presentation and the AGRICHEMWHEY team discussed the project with members of the local community. The feedback from the community was overwhelmingly positive – the biorefinery and bioeconomy Campus will provide high-skilled job opportunities to the area, and replace employment gaps left when the mine closed down. This support is greatly valued by Glanbia and the project partners.
Glanbia and the AGRICHEMWHEY project supported the local Moyne Athletic Club 70th Anniversary Games that were held on 12th of July at the local track. Although the attempt to break the 4-minute mile was not achieved, there was a fantastic atmosphere, huge crowd, and it was great to be able to support a local event.
